How does a thermal shock chamber work

High and Low Temperature Thermal Shock Chamber can be used in the temperature shock test and fast-changing temperature test in a wide range such as aviation, air space, electronic components and material research.

Products, materials, and components that have to survive changes in environmental conditions might also be called to be vulnerable. Thermal shock chambers or environmental chambers must be used to test electrical gadgets before they are put into service.

Testing for thermal shock replicates the significant temperature variations that a product may experience in the hands of consumers. You can imagine the impact on a smartphone battery when someone transitions from the frigid winter weather outdoors to the warmth of a warm house in the winter.

Alternatively, the extremes in temperature that aircraft components face when they go from a runway in 95-degree weather to a peak altitude of -40°F to -70°F.
This is done by using thermal shock chambers, which apply high heat and cold to a product to evaluate its durability and find its weak areas. The technique minimises the risk of failure. It is possible to add an ambient temperature zone to these chambers if desired.

Heat and cold zones provide a thermal shock chamber‘s severe temperature simulation. A single basket product carrier may be transferred between these zones, exposing the specimen to extreme temperature variations, exposing the test subjects to a thermal shock and finding defects.

Working of thermal shock chamber
Environmental chambers are created and manufactured to fulfil the most stringent test specifications under high thermal conditions ranging from -90 degrees Celsius to +220 degrees Celsius. The chamber is made up of two or three cabinets that you may arrange vertically or horizontally. The samples are exposed to thermal shocks as many times as required during the Hot and Cold cabinets transfer, which takes less than 10 seconds.

It is necessary to place the samples to be examined on a shelf or shelves in a basket that is moved alternately between cold cabinets and hot cabinets, causing thermal shocks to occur. Many cycles are performed with the sample within a moving basket that transports it from the cold compartment to the heated compartment and back again.

They contain two or more test compartments, and the transit of the sample from one to the other is accomplished in a relatively short period in these chambers (usually within 10 seconds).
By the criteria of the standard, which specifies the precise cycle to be completed, the temperature of the test compartments and the testing procedures are determined. LISUN is the best provider of thermal shock chambers.

In these tests, the product’s behaviour is examined when subjected to a thermal shock; depending on the material being tested, the sample may cool or heat up at various rates in different portions of the product. If this correlates to significant increases or decreases in volume, the material may be subjected to substantial mechanical stresses, which may fail.

Consider, for example, electronic boards used in aeronautical applications. Where dependability is an absolute must-have task. When a significant thermal shock occurs, faults in electronic circuits may arise if the shock is larger than the maximum resistance of the materials. When working with damaged components, it is possible to encounter pin breakage or weld failure, especially if the materials used have different thermal expansion coefficients.

LISUN HLST-500D has two separate chambers: high temperature chamber and low temperature chamber.
LISUN HLST-500T has three separate chambers: high temperature chamber, low temperature chamber and test chamber.

Operation Principles:
HLST-500D: The sample moves back and forth between the high temperature chamber and the low temperature chamber automatically during the measurement.
HLST-500T: The sample always stays in the test chamber during the measurement. High temperature chamber prepares high temperature air and low temperature chamber prepares low temperature air. The sample chamber will connect with high temperature chamber for high temperature test and will connect with low temperature chamber for low temperature test. Then, the air in test chamber will reach your target temperature in several minutes (“recover time”).
