Anechoic Chambers includes the semi-anechoic chambers and full-anechoic chambers. They are sealed shielded facilities used to simulate open-field environments for Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Electromagnetic Susceptibility (EMS) testing. Their main structure consists of two parts: The shielded chamber which includes the shielding shell, shielding door, ventilation waveguide windows and various power filters; The absorbing material which mainly composed of ferrite sheets and conical carbon-containing sponge absorbing material. The dimensions of the anechoic chamber must be determined based on the external dimensions of the equipment under test (EUT) and the testing requirements such as the 3-meter method and the 5-meter method.
The AC-3M/AC-5M semi-anechoic chamber is a six-sided shielded box, with absorbing material laid on only five sides, and the conductive floor is not covered. This design can simulate the environment of an ideal open field with an “infinitely large, well-conducting ground plane.” Because there is no absorbing material on the ground, a reflection path is formed during testing, and the signal ultimately captured by the receiving antenna is the superposition of the direct path signal and the reflected path signal.
The AC-3MF/AC-5MF full-anechoic chamber utilizes absorbing materials on all six interior surfaces to significantly reduce interference from external electromagnetic waves on test signals. Furthermore, the absorbing materials weaken reflections from the walls and ceiling, minimizing the impact of multipath effects on test results, thus simulating a free-space environment. Compared to semi-anechoic chambers, the anechoic chamber minimizes reflection interference from the floor, ceiling and walls.
