EN 14604:2005 Smoke alarm devices

EN 14604:2005 is a harmonized European standard specifying all test requirements for residential smoke alarm devices powered by mains or battery, covering mechanical, climatic, chemical ageing, optical dazzle, acoustic output and core smoke sensitivity verification based on defined aerosol and fire test protocols in its annexes. It establishes unified evaluation criteria to verify smoke detectors can accurately respond to real fire smoke while resisting false alarms triggered by ambient temperature, humidity, sulfur dioxide corrosion, mechanical shock and vibration during service life, forming the core safety specification for smoke alarms accessing EU market.

This standard also enforces comprehensive EMC immunity tests defined in six categories including voltage dip, ESD, radiated RF field, RF-induced conducted interference, EFT and lightning surge in Clause 5.14 following relevant IEC 61000-4 series standards. Full compliance with all mechanical, environmental and electromagnetic compatibility tests is the mandatory prerequisite for smoke alarm products to obtain CE marking and legal circulation within European member states.

LISUN supplies the fully test solutions for the following EN 14604:2005, please see the below excel table:
