The official name of the dust test chamber is IP6X dust test chamber, IP5X dust test chamber, and various other names. It is an instrument used to carry out IP dust resistance tests on products. The dust test chamber equipment helps evaluate the ability of equipment to withstand the impact of dust that may block openings, infiltrate cracks, gaps, bearings, and connectors. Its applications include but are not limited to electrical appliances, lighting fixtures, instruments, intelligent robots, cameras, vacuum cleaners, and sweepers.

Working principle:
IP5X provides partial protection against dust intrusion (without harmful deposits), although it cannot completely prevent dust intrusion, the amount of dust ingress will not affect the normal operation of the electrical appliance. IP6X provides complete sealing to prevent intrusion of external substances and dust.
In the dust test chamber, a powder circulation pump is used to suspend talcum powder in a way other than the closed test chamber. Talcum powder is filtered through a metal square sieve. The straight wire diameter of the metal wire is 50μm, and the sieve hole size is 75μm. The amount of talcum powder used is 2kg per cubic meter of test chamber volume, and the usage should not exceed 20 times.

Structural characteristics of the dust test chamber:
The housing of the facility is made of cold-rolled steel plate with electrostatic spray coating, and the inner liner is made of high-quality stainless steel plate, giving it an overall aesthetic appearance. The door of the chamber is equipped with a large observation window and a manual wiper device, making it convenient to see the test conditions of the test piece during the test process.

The main control instrument of the facility uses an intelligent digital display controller. The facility’s main controller uses an intelligent digital temperature controller, with a user-friendly design and easy-to-use operation methods. It is compatible with instruments of different levels and uses a digital calibration system for input. It is equipped with a built-in non-linear correction table for commonly used thermocouples and resistance temperature detectors, ensuring measurement stability. It has position adjustment and AI artificial intelligence adjustment capabilities, as well as multiple alarm modes. The facility also has a timing function. 3. Ground resistance of protective ground wire: less than 4Ω

Switch conditions for power supply:
1. Users are required to install a leakage protection air switch with the corresponding capacity for the equipment at the installation site, and this switch must be dedicated for the use of this equipment.
2. Do not use knife switches or power sockets.
3. The leakage protection air switch should be located no more than 2 meters away from the equipment.

Site requirements:
1. The site for the dust test chamber should have a level floor with a load-bearing capacity of no less than 200kg/m2.
2. The site for the dust test chamber should have good ventilation, no strong vibrations, no strong electromagnetic field interference, and no corrosive substances that are flammable or explosive.
3. There should be adequate space for use and maintenance around the dust test chamber.

1. The dust used is mainly dry talc powder.

The requirements for the medium used in the sand and dust test chamber are strict. The dust is dry talc powder, and the talc powder should be filtered through a metal square screen. The criterion is that it cannot completely prevent dust from entering, but the amount of dust entering should not affect the normal operation of the equipment.

The sand and dust test chamber has two testing methods. The first method is when the pressure inside the chamber is lower than the atmospheric pressure due to thermal cycling effects. A vacuum pump is used to maintain the pressure lower than atmospheric pressure, and the exhaust air should be connected to a hole specifically designed for testing.

The second method is when the pressure inside the enclosure is the same as the atmospheric pressure. The test sample enclosure is placed in the test chamber in its normal operating position, but it is not connected to the vacuum pump. The drain hole that is normally open should be kept open during the test, with a test duration of 8 hours.

Testing method for dust protection test equipment:
1. Clean the sample enclosure thoroughly, and try to avoid introducing any dust into the test chamber.
2. Place the sample in the middle position inside the chamber. If electrical testing is required, connect the sample power supply.
3. Pour the sifted talc powder into the chamber, taking note that the typical usage is 2kg per cubic meter. Close the chamber door tightly.
4. Start the equipment and set the test parameters, such as power-on time, vibration time, and dust blowing time.
5. After the test is complete, wait for the dust to settle for 30 minutes before opening the chamber door and removing the sample for inspection. Do not open the door immediately to avoid dust directly surging out of the chamber and causing contamination in the laboratory environment.
