The SG61000-5 fully automatic surge generator (also called lightning surge immunity test, combination wave generator, surge current generator/surge voltage generator, combined surge voltage and current generator) .
The SG61000-5 surge generator provides a common basis for evaluating the resistance of power cords and internal connectors of different equipment to high energy transient interference caused by natural lightning surge induction and large capacity load switching. It fully meets the IEC 61000-4-5, EN61000-4-5 and GB/T17626.5 standards.
Q1: The leakage switch of the lab will trip if you do surge test.
A1: The power supply for the EUT needs to be connected to the isolation transformer, and then connected to the “INT. CDN INPUT” on the back of the device through the isolation transformer. The surge test will return a large pulse current to the grid. It is easy to trigger the leakage switch of your lab if you don’t connect an isolation transformer.
Q2: The EUT is not on when you control from the touch screen.
A2: Please confirm that the output of the isolation transformer is turned on.
Please confirm that the switch of “INT. CDN INPUT” is turned on.
Q3: The synchronous phase angle is set. But the surge test is not carried out according to the corresponding angle
A3: The power of the EUT is AC, and the EUT must be turned on during the surge test.
Q4: How to set the impedance for surge test?
A4: This equipment is automatic surge tester. No need to set impedance value. The impedance value is automatically switched to 2ohm when doing the surge test between lines. The impedance value is automatically switched to 12ohm when doing the surge test between lines and grounding.
Q5: Why is the peak voltage lower than the set surge voltage during surge test?
A5: If the EUT is not connected, the peak voltage is essentially equal to the set surge voltage. But if there is a EUT connected, part of the surge voltage will be absorbed by the EUT. So the peak voltage will be less than the set surge voltage.
Q6: Why is the surge voltage measured by the oscilloscope inconsistent with the voltage set on the surge generator?
A6: Oscilloscope interface is with a built-in 1000:1(note: surge generator of 10KV and above is 2000:1) high voltage probe. That is, if the surge voltage is set to 5KV, the voltage measured at the oscilloscope interface is 1/1000, 5V, or 1/2000, 2.5V.
