  • Description
  • The 3.0mm Preset Controls Probe is a specialized safety tool designed for equipment with narrow-gap preset controls—such as household appliance knobs (oven temperature dials, washing machine program selectors), industrial control panel switches, and medical device preset buttons. Its ultra-slim 3mm conductive stainless steel tip targets the tiny gaps around fixed or semi-fixed controls, testing if hazardous live parts (e.g., internal wiring, terminal connections) are accessible via these openings. Paired with a lightweight, insulated handle for precise maneuvering, it applies a gentle 1N thrust to mimic accidental light contact. Compliant with global safety standards, it’s essential for manufacturers to eliminate electric shock risks in control-focused devices.

NOTE: Please note SMT-3001 is without cable. If you want to test with Low-voltage Test Supply LISUN model is SMT-529CV, you may choose SMT-3001C with cables.

    Specifications:
Tool Type: 3.0mm Preset Controls Probe (for narrow-gap preset control hazardous part testing)
    Key Dimensions:
    – Rod length: 100 mm
    – Rod diameter: 3 mm
    – Circular-baffle diameter: 35 mm
    – Handle diameter: 10 mm
    – Handle length: 100 mm
Core Function: Detects accessible hazardous live parts in narrow gaps around preset controls; ensures compliance with appliance/equipment safety standards

    Test Procedures:
    1. Inspect the probe for damage (bent tip, cracked insulation) and confirm conductivity with a test tool.
    2. Power on the equipment under test (EUT) and set its preset controls to a standard position (e.g., oven “180°C”).
    3. Hold the insulated handle and align the 3mm tip with the narrow gap around the target preset control (e.g., dial base).
    4. Insert the probe into the gap with a steady 1N thrust—stop when resistance from the control or enclosure is felt.
    5. Check the connected live-part detection instrument for signals (indicating contact with hazardous parts).
    6. Record results: Pass if no contact; Fail if live parts are accessible.

    Applications:
    1. Testing gaps around oven temperature preset dials (per IEC 60335-1:2020 Figure 22.4.1) to block live-wire access.
    2. Quality control for medical device preset pressure knobs (e.g., blood pressure monitors) during manufacturing.
    3. Post-production testing of small kitchen appliance (e.g., rice cooker) preset timer gaps to meet global safety standards.
