Product No: XD-150LS
The XD-150LS Xenon Arc | Xenon Weathering Resistance| Xenon Lamp Aging Test Chamber is an important means for screening formulations and optimizing product compositions during the scientific research and production process. It is also an important part of product quality inspection. Applied materials such as coatings, plastics, geotextiles, textiles, fuels, aluminum-plastic panels, as well as automotive safety glass, automotive interior parts, exterior parts, and other products are required by relevant standards to undergo weather resistance tests.
The main factors causing material aging are sunlight, temperature, and humidity. The Xenon Lamp Aging Test Chamber can simulate sunlight, rainwater, and dew. The materials to be tested are placed in a cyclic program of alternating illumination and moisture at a certain temperature for testing. It can reproduce the damages that occur outdoors in several months or even several years within just a few days or weeks.
The Xenon Lamp Aging Test Chamber uses a xenon arc lamp that simulates the solar spectrum to reproduce the destructive light waves existing in different environments. It can provide corresponding environmental simulation and accelerated test basis for scientific research, product development, and quality control. It can be used for the selection of new materials, the improvement of existing materials, or the evaluation of changes in durability after the composition of materials is altered. It can effectively simulate the changes that materials undergo when exposed to sunlight under different environmental conditions.

Test Procedures:
1. Sample Preparation: Cut representative samples according to the test standards (e.g., plastic or paint specimens sized to fit the test frame). Test initial color difference using LISUN HSCD-860 Portable Spectrophotometer (High Accuracy Reflectance), initial gloss using LISUN AGM-500 Gloss Meter with Single Angle, and initial tensile strength using LISUN PULL-500KG Double Columns Tensile Testing Machine. Record the data as a baseline. Samples must be properly packaged to prevent contamination or damage during handling and ensure consistent initial condition.
2. Equipment Inspection and Preparation: Inspect the xenon lamp aging chamber’s exterior and component connections. Verify that the xenon lamp life has not exceeded the specified operating time, that the cooling system and water spray system are functioning properly, and that the water tank is adequate and meets water quality standards (e.g., conductivity<5μs/cm). Calibrate key parameters: Use standard instruments to calibrate the irradiance intensity (e.g., 340nm band) or the air temperature sensor to ensure that the error is within the standard tolerance (±2°C).
3. Test Condition Setup: Irradiance: Set a target value (e.g., 0.55 W/m² @ 340 nm or 1.10 W/m² @ 340 nm) and precisely adjust it using the device control system. Temperature: Set the light phase to 50–89°C (e.g., 63°C ± 3°C), and the dark phase to 50°C ± 2°C (according to standard requirements). Humidity: Set a cycling humidity as needed (e.g., 30%–95% RH) to simulate varying humidity conditions.
4. Sample Placement: Secure the sample to the sample test rack within the chamber, ensuring that the sample faces the xenon lamp light source and that the sample is spaced ≥ 10 mm apart to ensure uniform illumination and temperature. Cover any unplaced sample areas with a blackboard to minimize fluctuations in the chamber environment.
5. Test Run: Close the chamber door, start the equipment, and wait 30 minutes to confirm that the irradiance, temperature, humidity, and other parameters have stabilized at the set values. Start the timer. During operation, regularly check the equipment status. Observe and photograph changes in the sample’s appearance every 250 hours or at standard intervals. Avoid frequent door openings during operation (if door opening is necessary, pause the timer and restart it after parameters are restored).
6. Intermediate and Final Testing: During or after the test (if the specified number of cycles has been reached) remove the sample and place it in a standard environment (23°C ± 2°C, 50% ± 5% RH) for a period of time (e.g., 4 hours) for condition adjustment. Again, test color difference with HSCD-860 Portable Spectrophotometer (High Accuracy Reflectance), gloss with AGM-500 Gloss Meter with Single Angle, and tensile strength with LISUN PULL-500KG Double Columns Tensile Testing Machine to track aging changes and compare to initial values to assess the extent of aging.
7. Result Evaluation: Appearance Assessment: Observe the sample for signs of fading, chalking, cracking, bubbling, etc., and quantify appearance changes based on LISUN instrument test data. Performance evaluation: Analyze the attenuation of mechanical properties (such as tensile strength and elongation at break) and chemical properties (such as molecular weight change) to determine whether the material’s weather resistance level meets the standard requirements.
