Product No: SMT-1007
Product Introduction:
The IEC/EN 60335-2-11 Test Nails (1mm x 50mm) are specialized tools for short-circuit testing of electrical appliances with drum holes. Designed to simulate accidental contact with live parts, they feature a 1mm diameter (for accessing narrow gaps) and 50mm length (to reach deep components), ensuring compliance with safety standards. Made of high-conductivity metal (for reliable short-circuit simulation), they’re used to test if appliances with accessible live parts (via IEC 61032 Test Probe C) can withstand short-circuit conditions, supporting safe operation with dry textile materials.
Standards:
| Standards No. | Clause/Figure | Standards Name |
| IEC 60335-2-11:2020 | Clause 19.102 | Household and similar electrical appliances – Safety – Part 2-11: Particular requirements for centrifugal extractors and tumble dryers |
| EN 60335-2-11:2020+A1:2023 | Clause 19.102 | Household and similar electrical appliances – Safety – Part 2-11: Particular requirements for centrifugal extractors and tumble dryers |
| IEC 61032:2021 | – | Safety of machinery – Safety distances to prevent hazard zones being reached by upper and lower limbs |
Specifications:
1. Physical Dimensions Diameter: 1mm (±0.05mm tolerance); Length: 50mm (±0.2mm tolerance)
2. Material: High-conductivity brass (plated with nickel for corrosion resistance)
3. Conductivity: Electrical conductivity ≥ 15 S/m (ensures effective short-circuit simulation)
4. Applicable Probe : Compatible with IEC 61032 Test Probe C (for pre-verifying access to live parts)
5. Test Medium Requirement: Designed for use with dry textile material (per standard operation conditions)
6. Structural Feature: Smooth, burr-free tip (prevents damage to appliance components during testing)
Test Procedures:
1. Inspect the test nail for damage (e.g., bending, corrosion) and confirm dimensions meet specs.
2. Power off the appliance (e.g., tumble dryer) and place dry textile material inside as required.
3. Use IEC 61032 Test Probe C to identify drum holes that allow access to underlying live parts.
4. Insert the 1mm x 50mm test nail through the identified hole to the most unfavorable short-circuit point (between live parts or live parts and metal).
5. Power on the appliance and operate it per Clause 11 of IEC 60335-2-11; monitor for short-circuit safety performance.
6. Power off after testing, remove the nail, and record whether the appliance withstood the short-circuit.
Applications:
1. Short-circuit testing of domestic tumble dryers (to verify safety when live parts under drum holes are accessed).
2. Compliance checks for industrial centrifugal extractors (ensuring they withstand short-circuit conditions per IEC 60335-2-11).
3. Quality control for drum-type laundry appliances during production (preventing unsafe units from entering the market).
4. Third-party certification testing (e.g., CE, GS) for appliances requiring adherence to EN 60335-2-11 Clause 19.102.
5. Post-repair safety verification of tumble dryers/extractors (confirming no new access risks to live parts exist).
