It applies to a wide range of IT devices such as computers, servers, printers, routers, displays, and their accessories like power adapters. Its primary goal is to safeguard operators, maintenance personnel, and the surrounding environment from safety risks—including electric shock, fire, mechanical injury, and thermal harm—during normal use or reasonably foreseeable fault conditions, while also associating with safety-related electromagnetic compatibility requirements.
To ensure safety, the standard specifies detailed technical requirements covering electrical insulation, material heat resistance, mechanical structural stability, and protection against abnormal operations like short circuits. It also outlines test methods for compliance verification.
