Classification and test of waterproof grade of lamps

IP (International Protection) protection level is the dust and water protection level of the product shell specified by the International Electrical Association (IEC). The requirements for waterproof test are very simple, that is, to prevent the intrusion, penetration, penetration, inflow or overflow of water. The diameter of water molecules is about 0.4nm, and the capillary pores larger than this size can pass through. The diameter of water molecules is slightly larger than that of gas molecules, and gas can pass through pores of 0.27-0.39nm. Division of waterproof test:
• IPX0: No protection, no special protection
• IPX1: Prevent dripping intrusion and prevent vertical dripping
• IPX2: Prevent dripping when tilted 15 degrees. When the lamp is tilted 15 degrees, dripping can still be prevented
• IPX3: Prevent the intrusion of sprayed water to prevent rainwater, or the water sprayed in a direction where the vertical angle is less than 50 degrees
• IPX4: Prevent the intrusion of splashing water to prevent the intrusion of splashing water from all directions
• IPX5: Prevent the intrusion of large waves of water
• IPX6: Prevent large waves of water from intruding into the water. Under a certain period of time or under water pressure, it can still ensure the normal operation of the lamp
• IPX7: Prevent the ingress of water from intruding into the submerged water of the lamp indefinitely under the condition of constant water pressure, and can ensure the normal operation of the lamp

• Test equipment: Drip test device

• Test conditions: Dripping water is 10.05 mm/min
• Duration: 10 min
IPX 2
• Method name: Tilt drip test
• Test equipment: Drip test device
• Sample placement: Make one surface of the sample form a 15° angle with the vertical, and the distance from the top of the sample to the drip opening is not more than 200mm.
• After each test-after one side, change to another side, a total of four times.
• Test conditions: The dripping volume is 30.5 mm/min
• Duration: 4×2.5 min (total 10 min)

IPX 3
• Method name: Water spray test
Experiment method:
a. Swing tube water spray test
• Test equipment: Swing-tube spraying water splashing
• Test device
• Sample placement: Choose a swing tube with an appropriate radius, make the height of the sample table at the position of the diameter of the swing tube, and place the sample on the sample table so that the distance between the top of the sample and the sample nozzle is not more than 200mm, and the sample table is not Spin.
• Test conditions: The water flow rate is calculated according to the number of spray holes of the pendulum tube, each hole is 0.07 L/min. When water is sprayed, the water spray from the spray holes in the 60° arc on both sides of the pendulum tube is sprayed to the sample.
The test sample is placed in the center of the semicircle of the pendulum tube.
• The pendulum tube swings 60° on both sides of the vertical, a total of 120°. Each swing (2×120°) about 4s
• Test time: Continuous spraying water for 10 min

b. Sprinkler water spray test
• Test equipment: Hand-held splashing water
• Test device

IPX 4
• Method name: Water splash test
Experiment method:
a. Swing tube splash test
• Test equipment and sample placement: the same as the above IPX3 paragraph a;
• Test conditions: Except for the following conditions, the same as the above IPX3 type a; the water spray area is the water spray from the water spray holes in the 90° arcs on both sides of the pendulum pipe to the sample.
• The test sample is placed in the center of the semicircle of the pendulum tube.
• The pendulum tube swings 180° on both sides of the vertical line, a total of about 360°.
• Each swing (2*360°) about 12s.
• Test time: the same as the above IPX3 type a (ie 10 min).

b. Sprinkler type splash water test equipment and sample placement: the same as the above IPX3 item b;

• Test conditions: Same as above 100 L/min (6000 L/h)

• Test time: 30 min.
IPX 8
• Method name: Continuous diving test
