IEC 62560:2015 is a universal safety standard for self-ballasted LED lamps used in general lighting, with a rated voltage over 50 V (e.g., common screw/bayonet LED bulbs). It excludes lamps for special uses like explosion-proof or medical lighting. Its core goal is to set technical requirements and testing methods, preventing hazards (electric shock, fire, mechanical injury) to users and the environment during production, transport, installation and use, while providing a unified safety basis for manufacturers and inspection bodies.
The standard specifies mandatory/recommended safety requirements: electrical safety (anti-shock via insulation/grounding, anti-overload), mechanical safety (lamp structural strength, stable lamp cap-socket fit), thermal safety (temperature limits to avoid overheating hazards), and special scenario adaptability (moisture/solid foreign object protection), plus supporting test methods. Its implementation eliminates substandard products, improves overall LED lamp safety, supports market supervision and certification, protects consumers, and helps domestic products meet international trade safety access requirements.
