SASO‑2927:2019, Part 3 is the mandatory Saudi national standard specially for road‑way and tunnel lighting luminaires, which complements SASO‑2870 and SASO‑2902. It defines M‑class for motor roads, C‑class for conflict intersections and P‑class for pedestrian zones, and sets binding energy‑efficiency limits, photometric performance and energy‑efficiency labelling rules for street‑lighting products. It covers complete road‑tunnel luminaire units and their built‑in control units, excluding general indoor and household lighting products.
Apart from regular photometric and electrical performance tests listed in Table 23 such as luminous efficacy, power factor, lumen maintenance and switching durability, this standard adds strict electrical and mechanical‑environmental requirements. These include surge immunity, DALI/0‑10V dimming function, IP66 ingress protection, IK impact resistance, salt‑spray corrosion and vibration performance. Products must pass all relevant tests and complete SASO EER registration for Saudi market access, while safety requirements are referenced to separate IEC standards rather than specified within this standard itself.
