Comparison of vertical goniophotometer and horizontal goniophotometer

The goniophotometer is mainly used to measure the light distribution performance of lamps and light sources. That is, the luminosity and chromaticity value distribution of the laser source of lamps in different directions in space.

1. What are the main types of goniophotometers and what are the test methods?
1.1 Types of goniophotometer
Goniophotometers are mainly divided into two types: horizontal and vertical. It is mainly used to test the lumen, light distribution curve, glare level, and isoilluminance distribution diagram of the whole lamp. In addition, one of the most important functions is to export IES or LDT files. (The goniophotometer system can also add a spectrometer and a color probe to form a system for measuring the spatial spectral distribution.)

1.2 Test method of goniophotometer
A curve drawn according to the candela values of the light source at different positions in the space can reflect the performance of the light source to a certain extent. Lamps, street lamps, etc. It is the most widely used test method at present. That is, the test method based on the B-β coordinate system is used for the test of floodlights in most cases. For details, please refer to the CIE-127 test standard. That is, the A-α coordinate system is not based on the test method, which is suitable for the test of traffic lights, fairway lights, and signal lights.

2.1 Vertical goniophotometer fully meet standard below:

3. What are the technical configurations of the vertical goniophotometer and the horizontal goniophotometer?
3.1 Vertical goniophotometer technical configuration:
• The luminaire under test rotates around the mirror with an angle of (γ) vertical axis ±180° (or 0-360°) and the luminaire rotates around itself with an angle of (C) horizontal axis ±180° (or 0-360° ).
• The accuracy of angle: 0.05°, Resolution of angle: 0.001°
• Accuracy of Goniophotometry detector: Constant temperature photo detector DIN5032-6/CIE pub1. No. 69 Class L
• LISUN goniophotometer software can export CIE, IES, LDT and other format files. These kinds of format files can be used via other illumination and luminaire design software such as DiaLux.

3.2 Horizontal goniophotometer technical configuration:
• With a constant temperature detector, Japanese motor and German precision angle coder which keep the test results with high accuracy
• The goniophotometric instrument can do the B-β test with two pillars and the C-γ test with single pillar & multi-function jigs
• Test Max Luminaires size and weight: LSG-1890B is 2000mm/60kg and LSG-1800A is 1600mm/50kg

Note: E is the max diameter of the testing lamp. Depeonds on the darkroom size, the max diameter of the light-emitting area will be about 200mm less and the thickness F will also be less accordingly.
• The dark room wall, ceiling and floor should be all coated with dull black paint or be covered by black cloth and black carpet.
• Air-conditioner: be set in the dark room to control the temperature around lamps to the standard value upon the CIE requirements.

Note: LISUN GROUP engineer dept will submit the Lab Design support documents according to the customer’s real lab size after the formal purchase order was confirmed. NOTE: The longer dark room, the better test accuracy. LISUN recommends you to prepare as longer dark room as you can (max 30m).

• Dark Room size request (The G, A and E please refer to the above table 1 and figure 1 and 2): The darkroom Width W=G+X (It recommends the X is min 500mm which can allow one person pass). The darkroom Height H=A+0.5*E+Y (It recommends the Y is min 100mm to the ceiling). The darkroom Length L=6*E (According to CIE, it requests at least 6times than the testing lamps).
• Control Room size request: min=2000*2000*2000mm
• The wall, ceiling and floor should be all coated with dull black paint or be covered by black cloth and black carpet.
