This customer is an authoritative third-party laboratory specializing in safety testing for lighting products in South America, holding relevant qualifications for compliance testing of lamps. It mainly serves local and import & export manufacturers of LED lamps, LED drivers and insulating materials for lighting, and issues test reports that comply with IEC standards and South American market access regulations. In recent years, local authorities have continuously tightened fire safety control requirements for lighting products. The laboratory planned to expand its flame retardant testing division by adding needle flame and glow-wire fire hazard test items, to evaluate the flame resistance of components such as LED lamp holders, driver housings, plastic ballast parts and wire insulation layers. The newly introduced testing capabilities meet the test requirements of GB 7000.1, IEC 60598, IEC 62368-1 and other standards, completing the laboratory’s safety testing chain and strengthening its certification service capacity for lighting products.
The customer compared multiple equipment manufacturers in the industry in the early stage and put forward clear and strict requirements on test parameters and standard compatibility. The equipment must support the full set of flame retardant test standards including IEC 60695 and GB/T 5169, and conduct tests on both finished products and raw materials. For the needle flame tester, the flame height must be stably maintained at 12mm±1mm, the temperature shall rise precisely from 100℃ to 700℃ within 23.5 seconds, and continuous flame application for 10s, 60s and 120s shall be available. As for the glow-wire tester, its temperature range shall cover ambient temperature to 1100℃, the contact pressure on specimens shall stay stable at 0.95N, and core test data including GWFI and GWIT can be automatically collected. In addition, the equipment shall be equipped with dual operation modes of touch screen and remote controller, and the high-temperature and corrosion-resistant body shall adapt to long-term high-frequency laboratory use. Based on the customer’s lighting testing business scenarios, we put forward a matched complete solution consisting of ZY-3 Needle Flame Tester and ZRS-3H Glow-wire Tester. All parameters of the two devices fully satisfy the customer’s standard demands. The integrated cabinet structure fits fixed workstations in laboratories, and automatic timing and data storage functions effectively reduce human errors. Upon receiving the customer’s formal order, our production workshop immediately arranged exclusive production schedules. Key components were calibrated in strict accordance with international standards, and critical indicators including flame temperature rise, glow-wire pressure and timing accuracy were verified unit by unit. Full-process simulation tests with lamp specimens were completed before delivery, together with English operation manuals and complete standard calibration documents. After the equipment arrived at the customer’s laboratory by sea, our professional technicians were dispatched to the local site to complete a full set of installation work including unpacking, pipeline connection, gas debugging and overall precision calibration. Systematic hands-on training lasting two days was provided, covering key operation points such as butane gas proportioning, thermocouple calibration, specimen clamping and continuous combustion test program setup. Our technicians demonstrated the complete testing procedures for lamp housings and driver plastic parts on site, and answered various questions raised by operators about equipment maintenance, fault handling and data recording, ensuring that laboratory staff can independently carry out all flame retardant tests.
