UL 153:2014 Portable Electric Luminaires

UL 153:2014 Standard for Portable Electric Luminaires establishes core safety requirements and test protocols for North American-market portable lighting products like table and floor lamps. It covers electrical safety (Chapters 100–110), thermal performance (Chapters 143–148), mechanical stability (Chapter 153), and material flammability, with dedicated tests to prevent electric shock, overheating, structural collapse, and fire hazards.

UL 153:2014 also specifies evaluations for power cable stress relief (Chapter 154), abnormal operation (Chapter 149), component fault tolerance (Chapter 151), and ingress protection (Chapter 130). As a key certification basis for North American market access, compliance validates product reliability and minimizes lifecycle risks of portable luminaires.
