SASO‑2902:2018 Energy Efficiency, Functionality, and Labeling Requirements for Lighting Products Part 2

SASO‑2902:2018, Part 2 is the Saudi national energy‑efficiency standard for integrated luminaires, lamp control gears and special light sources not covered by SASO‑2870. It applies to non‑replaceable integrated luminaires, fluorescent lamps, high‑intensity discharge lamps and control gears, covering products with luminous flux above 60 lm, excluding standalone replaceable light sources governed by Part 1. It defines mandatory energy‑efficiency thresholds, EEI calculation rules, functional performance criteria and energy‑efficiency label specifications for market access in Saudi Arabia.

This standard specifies a series of performance tests including luminous characteristics, power factor, lumen maintenance, switching durability and control‑gear efficiency. Products need to pass these tests and complete SASO EER registration before being sold locally. Safety and EMC requirements are referenced to separate IEC standards instead of being defined within SASO‑2902:2018 itself.
