IEC 60968:2015 is an international safety standard governing self-ballasted fluorescent lamps (SBFLs) for general lighting applications. It applies to lamps with a rated voltage of 50V to 250V and rated frequency of 50Hz or 60Hz, featuring lamp caps compliant with IEC 60061-1, and intended for household and similar indoor/outdoor use. The standard establishes unified safety criteria to mitigate hazards during normal operation, abnormal conditions, and end-of-life scenarios, serving as a foundational reference for manufacturers, testing institutions, and regulatory bodies globally to ensure product consistency and user safety.
The standard specifies comprehensive safety requirements across multiple dimensions: electrical safety (e.g., insulation resistance, dielectric strength, protection against electric shock), mechanical safety (e.g., lamp cap torque resistance, axial pressure endurance, structural integrity), and thermal safety (e.g., heat resistance of materials, prevention of overheating).
