Abstract
In dusty working conditions such as outdoor, industrial and vehicle environments, dust intrusion easily causes internal short circuit, mechanical stagnation, poor contact and performance degradation of products. Dust chambers (sand and dust test chambers) can accurately simulate dry dust environments in laboratory conditions. By precisely controlling dust concentration, blowing pressure and test duration, they restore the actual service state of products in natural or industrial dust environments, so as to evaluate the influence of dust ingress on product internal circuits, mechanical structures and operational performance. It provides standardized basis for IP5X/IP6X dustproof rating evaluation, product sealing optimization and factory quality control.
Taking LISUN SC-010 dust chamber as the research object, this paper systematically expounds the working principle, test procedure and industrial application of dust chambers combined with standard system, equipment structure, control logic and measured parameters. It provides technical reference for dustproof design and certification testing of electrical appliances, lighting fixtures, auto parts and other products.
Modern electrical and electronic equipment, outdoor lamps, vehicle components, power distribution cabinets and other products are long-term exposed to dusty and sandstorm environments. Tiny dust entering the shell will cause poor contact, reduced heat dissipation, jamming of moving parts and decreased insulation performance, which seriously affect product service life and operational safety.
To uniformly evaluate the dust resistance of products, China and international organizations have issued standards such as GB 4208, IEC 60529 and GB/T 2423.37, dividing dustproof levels into IP5X (limited dust protection) and IP6X (complete dust protection). As the core equipment to complete the above standard tests, dust chambers realize repeatable and comparable verification of product protection performance by simulating stable dust environment.
LISUN SC-010 dust chamber is specially designed for IP5X/IP6X dustproof testing. Adopting PLC + touch screen intelligent control, circulating air duct heating, adjustable vibration and vacuum negative pressure system, it can precisely control dust concentration, test time, pumping rate and internal temperature. It meets the dust test requirements of electrical, lighting, auto parts and other industries, and is widely used in R&D, quality inspection and certification laboratories.
Working Principle
Dust chambers take dry talcum powder as the test medium. Through the coordinated operation of fan circulation, vibration dust raising and negative pressure suction, a uniform and stable dust environment is formed in the sealed chamber. The heating system prevents dust moisture condensation; the vibration device avoids dust adhesion on the chamber wall; the vacuum system applies negative pressure to the inner cavity of the sample to strengthen the dust intrusion effect, truly simulating harsh scenarios such as outdoor dust and industrial dust.
During the test, dust concentration, blowing/stopping cycle, total test time and vibration interval are continuously controlled to complete the standardized assessment of IP5X/IP6X rating.

The SC series dust chambers are available in multiple inner cavity sizes to adapt to samples of different volumes. SC-010 is the mainstream model for industrial applications. The key parameters are shown in the table below:
