SASO‑2870:2015 Energy Efficiency, Functionality, and Labeling Requirements for Lighting Products Part 1

SASO‑2870:2015 is the Saudi national standard (Part 1) for general‑purpose standalone light sources, covering directional and non‑directional lamps with luminous flux from 60 lm to 12 000 lm, including LED lamps, compact fluorescent lamps, halogen and incandescent lamps. It defines mandatory energy‑efficiency thresholds, functional performance criteria and official labelling rules, and excludes complete luminaires, control gears and special‑purpose light sources.

This standard specifies a full set of performance tests such as luminous efficacy, colour rendering, lumen maintenance, switching cycle durability, start‑up time and power‑factor limits. Products must pass these tests and carry the Saudi energy‑efficiency label to complete SASO EER registration for market access in Saudi Arabia. Safety and EMC requirements are referenced from separate IEC‑based standards rather than defined within SASO‑2870:2015 itself.
