Abstract
Dust test chamber IP5X is the core environmental test equipment for verifying the dust protection grade of electrical, automotive, lighting and other product enclosures. Taking LISUN SC-015 dust test chamber as the research object, this paper analyzes the cooperative working mechanism of its sealed test chamber and closed-loop circulating dust blowing system, and explains how the equipment realizes uniform suspension and repeated recycling of dust to stably complete standardized dust protection tests of four grades including IP5X, IP6X, IP5KX and IP6KX. Fully complying with domestic and international standards such as GB4208-2008 and IEC60529, the equipment provides accurate test data for product R&D reliability verification and factory quality control, and effectively improves the stable operation performance of outdoor, industrial and vehicle-mounted products under heavy dust working conditions.
Modern industrial, vehicle-mounted and outdoor electronic devices are exposed to dust and sand environments for a long time. Dust intrusion may cause circuit short circuits, mechanical jamming, seal failure and other faults. Therefore, IP dust protection grade testing has become an essential link for product market access and quality optimization. IP5X and IP6X are general dust protection standards for equipment, while IP5KX and IP6KX are enhanced sand and dust working conditions specially formulated for road vehicles. All four types of tests require uniform dust concentration, stable air flow and recyclable test media in the test environment. Traditional simple dust test equipment has obvious defects such as uneven dust settlement, high consumable loss and low parameter control precision. In contrast, dust test chamber IP5X adopts a sealed chamber structure matched with an integrated circulating dust blowing system, which solves the pain points including unbalanced dust distribution, one-time consumable waste and poor test repeatability. As a standardized mature model, LISUN SC-015 dust test chamber relies on the collaborative design of dual systems to complete four types of dust protection tests in one stop, and is widely used in R&D laboratories for parts, third-party testing institutions, and quality inspection links of vehicle lamp production lines.
Structural Design of Sealed Test Chamber
LISUN SC-015 dust test chamber IP5X adopts a layered sealed chamber structure. The outer shell is made of painted steel plate equipped with a double-layer silicone rubber sealed door, and the inner container, sample rack and air duct are all made of stainless steel to avoid rust contaminating dust media. The inner working cavity size is 1000×1500×1000mm, which allows large samples to be placed horizontally or vertically. A conical aggregate funnel is designed at the bottom of the chamber with replaceable dust collecting devices, which can fully recover settled dust to achieve 100% recycling of dust. The chamber door is equipped with a tempered glass observation window and built-in LED lights, so the dust accumulation and penetration state of samples can be observed without opening the chamber during the whole test process, maintaining the internal dust environment free from external air interference.
The core functions of the sealed chamber are as follows: isolate the interference of external clean air, lock the talc powder test medium inside the chamber to prevent dust leakage and laboratory pollution, stabilize the pressure difference during negative pressure tests (IP6X/IP6KX), avoid dilution of dust concentration caused by internal and external air convection, and provide a closed test space for the circulating dust blowing system.
Operation Mechanism of Closed-loop Circulating Dust Blowing System
The circulating dust blowing system consists of a variable-frequency dust blowing fan, constant-temperature heating air duct, vibrating dust homogenizing device, vacuum pumping unit and 7-inch touch screen PLC control system, forming an O-shaped vertical circulating air duct together with the sealed chamber. The operation process is divided into three steps:
• Dust homogenization and suspension: The vibrating device at the bottom aggregate bin intermittently breaks dry talc powder. The fan transports dust to the homogenizing screen (50μm standard metal screen) at the top of the chamber, and dust falls freely from top to bottom to form uniform suspension inside the sealed chamber;
• Circulation and recovery: Settled dust flows back to the aggregate bin along the conical bottom, agglomerated dust is removed via vibration filtration, and the treated dust is sent to the air duct for repeated dust blowing, maintaining a standard dust concentration of 2~4kg/m³ throughout the test;
• Multi-working condition switching: The PLC independently controls dust blowing cycle, vibration duration, vacuum negative pressure and chamber temperature (RT+10~60℃). IP5X test adopts natural circulating dust blowing mode; IP6X test activates an adjustable vacuum pump of 0~10kPa simultaneously to form negative pressure inside samples and simulate the dust absorption effect caused by cold and hot breathing of equipment. For IP5KX and IP6KX tests, wind speed and dust concentration can be increased to meet the enhanced sand and dust test requirements of vehicle parts.
The sealed chamber isolates external air flow while the circulating system continuously homogenizes and recycles dust. The coordination of the two systems ensures that the dust concentration does not decay significantly during long-term tests, and the repeatability error of test data is lower than the allowable range specified by standards.

The table below sorts out the key technical parameters of the equipment and its matching capacity for four types of dust protection grade tests, intuitively reflecting the multi-standard compatibility advantages of dust test chamber IP5X:
| Test Item | Technical Parameter | Applicable Dust Protection Grade | Corresponding Executive Standard |

| Test Dust Medium | Dry talc powder, dosage 2~4kg/m³ | All four grades | GB2423.37-89 |
| Vacuum System | 0~10kPa adjustable, pumping speed 0~4800L/H | IP6X, IP6KX (negative pressure test) | IEC60529 dust tight test clauses |
| Temperature Range | Constant temperature heating from RT+10℃ to 60℃ | All four grades (prevent dust condensation) | GB7000.1 dust test for luminaires |

• Performance verification in R&D stage: During the R&D of automotive lamps, motors, outdoor power distribution cabinets, industrial sensors and other new products, LISUN SC-015 dust test chamber IP5X is used to simulate long-term dust working conditions, detect dust penetration at shell gaps, wiring ports and sealing strips, optimize sealing structures in advance and reduce mass production failure rate;
• Production line quality control: Batch IP5X sampling inspection of luminaires and electrical components before delivery. The dust circulating system reduces the consumption of talc powder, and the sealed chamber avoids dust leakage, improving the workshop working environment and shortening the single test cycle;
• One-stop test for multiple grades: No equipment replacement is required for general electronic IP5X/IP6X and vehicle part IP5KX/IP6KX tests. All dust protection tests can be completed only by switching dust blowing, negative pressure and vibration parameters via PLC, lowering enterprise equipment procurement costs;
• Reliability guarantee of test data: The sealed chamber eliminates external air flow interference, the circulating dust blowing system stabilizes dust concentration, and constant temperature heating prevents powder agglomeration. Test results can generate compliant calibration reports to meet the audit requirements of third-party testing and product certification.
Practical long-term application shows that products verified by dust test chamber IP5X have a failure rate reduction of more than 60% in high-dust scenarios such as mines, construction sites and rural roads, significantly extending service life.
Represented by LISUN SC-015 dust test chamber IP5X relies on the deep cooperation between sealed test chamber and circulating dust blowing system to overcome the shortcomings of traditional sand and dust equipment including uneven dust distribution, high consumable loss and single working condition. It can stably complete standardized dust protection tests of full series IP5X, IP6X, IP5KX and IP6KX. Complying with both domestic and international dual protection standards, the equipment meets the demands of R&D sample verification and mass production quality inspection. It provides accurate and reliable simulated test conditions for optimizing dust resistance performance of products in electronics, automotive and lighting industries, and helps various equipment operate stably for a long time under complex multi-dust environments. Enterprises equipped with such dust test chamber IP5X can shorten product certification cycles, reduce after-sales failure costs and enhance product market competitiveness.
