IEC 60983:2005 is an IEC-released international standard for miniature lamps, combining its 1995 2nd edition and 2005 Amendment 1 (IEC 60983:1995+AMD1:2005 CSV) with validity through 2025. It is overseen by IEC/TC 34 (Lighting) Subcommittee SC 34A and classified under ICS 29.140.20 (incandescent lamp technologies).
It applies to two lamp categories: non-statutory incandescent lamps for road vehicles (not covered by IEC 60809), and miniature halogen/non-halogen lamps with ≤30V rated voltage and ≤25W rated power. Key requirements include dimensional, electrical, and optical parameters (for fit and basic performance), plus service life and torsional strength (for reliability/safety), providing a unified basis for R&D, production, and quality checks.
