  • IEC 80601-2-52:2026 Figure CC.1 Wedge Tool is manufactured strictly to IEC 80601-2-52:2026 drawing. Made of aluminium with total weight of 3.34 kg. This test wedge simulates the mass and geometry of a small adult’s head and neck. It is used to evaluate patient entrapment risk of V-shaped openings in Area B and Area C of medical beds, to assess neck entrapment hazards from gaps on non-moving bed components. It is the dedicated fixture for type safety test of medical beds.

    Test Procedures:
    1. Adjust the medical bed under test to the worst-case condition, locate the V-shaped openings of Area B and Area C.
    2. Align the wedge tip downwards to the V-opening, release the tool so it inserts by its own weight.
    3. Repeat the test at multiple positions and bed configurations.
    4. Inspect whether the tool gets stuck or locked to judge neck entrapment risk of V-shaped opening.
    5. Record test observations and data, finish patient anti-entrapment safety assessment.
