Product No: SMT-S3252
This UL 1310 Fig 16.4 Hazardous Moving Parts Probe is a specialized safety tool designed for testing power supplies, battery chargers, and low-voltage power equipment. It features a rigid stainless steel probe tip—engineered to access tight gaps around guards or enclosures—to verify if hazardous moving components (e.g., fan blades, gears, or rotating shafts) remain inaccessible to users.
Specifications:
Probe Type: UL 1310 Fig 16.4 Hazardous Moving Parts Probe (for power supplies/low-voltage equipment)
Probe Material: Stainless steel (rigid, corrosion-resistant; maintains shape under 10N thrust; withstands minor contact with moving parts)
Handle Material: Nylon (fully insulating, heat-resistant up to 100°C; non-slip grip for controlled operation near power equipment)
Key Dimensions:
– Probe Total Length: 114.3mm(4.5 inches)
– Tail Probe Diameter: 25.4mm(1.0 inch)
– Head Probe Diameter: 50.8mm(2.0 inches)
– Former Head Radius: R 14.3mm(0.25 inch)
– Standard: UL1310 fig.16.4
Test Procedures:
1. Inspect the probe for damage (e.g., bent tip, cracked handle) to ensure structural integrity.
2. Power on the power supply/equipment and let it reach normal operating mode (activate all moving components).
3. Hold the insulating handle and align the probe tip with gaps in guards (e.g., fan covers, gear shields).
4. Apply steady 10N thrust to the probe—stop immediately if resistance from moving parts is felt.
5. Check if the probe touches rotating components or bypasses safety guards.
6. Record whether the equipment meets safety requirements (pass/fail) and power off.
Applications:
1. Safety testing of Class 2 switch-mode power supplies (SMPS) per UL 1310 Fig 16.4 to guard fan blades.
2. Quality control for portable power banks (internal cooling fans) during manufacturing for U.S. markets.
3. Post-production audits of medical auxiliary power supplies (low-voltage) to meet hazardous moving part standards.
